In its second year, America's Best High Schools has again identified the country's top- performing high schools. The goal of the project remains the same: provide a clear, unbiased picture of how well public high schools serve all of their students - from the highest achieving to the lowest achieving - in preparing them to demonstrate proficiency in basic skills as well as readiness for college-level work.
The 2009 U.S.News & World Report America's Best High Schools methodology, developed by School Evaluation Services, a K-12 education data research business run by Standard & Poor's, is based on the key principles that a great high school must serve all its students well, not just those who are bound for college and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show that the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators.
This year’s list recognizes more than 1,900 of the best high schools nationwide using three categories of distinction: gold, silver and bronze. ICI applauds and salutes those ICI high schools that have joined this elite group of America’s Best High Schools.
